The area of research and development includes earmarked and institutional support for research and development pursuant to Act No. 130/2002 Coll., on support for research and development from public funds and on amendment to certain related laws (Act on Support for Research and Development). The Act became effective on July 1, 2002.

The following regulations implementing the Act have been issued by the Government:

  • Government Regulation No. 267/2002 of May 29, 2002, on the information system in research and development
  • Government Regulation No. 461/2002 of November 8, 2002, on earmarked support for research and development from public funds and on public tenders in research and development
  • Government Regulation No. 462/2002 of November 8, 2002, on the institutional support for research and development from public funds and on the evaluation of research intentions

Legal relationships in the area of research and development established before this Act came into effect are governed by the former legal regulations, namely:

  • in the area of research with earmarked support - Government Regulation No. 88/2001, on the conditions for earmarked funding of research and development and the transfer of data to central records of projects financed from the State budget
  • in the area of research with institutional support – Rules for Evaluation of Research Intentions and the Results of Organizations for the Provision of Institutional Support for Research and Development.
