Methodical Workplaces in the Area of Museology
Five specialised museology and methodology workplaces have been founded in the Czech Republic. They offer information and services to owners and administrators of museum-type collections and other interested persons; they release guidelines and texts regarding methods and offer consultation.
The Museums and Galleries Division within the Department of Conservation of the Movable Cultural Heritage, Museums and Galleries of the Ministry of Culture of the Czech Republic is concerned with the matters of registration and inventories of museum-type collections, the Central Registry of Museum-type Collections (CES) and the export of collection items to other countries.

This workplace issues methodical instructions and offers consultation regarding methodology.
The Museum Centre for Conservation (MCK) within the Brno Technical Museum is concerned with the preventive protection of collection items and items of cultural value from the impact of external influence factors, avoiding the consequences of damage caused by external factors, the testing or development of new conservation and restoration technologies, research and development, the education of collection curators and conservation specialists.
The Methodological Centre for Information Technologies in Museology (CITEM) within the Moravian Museum is concerned with the testing and development of information technologies, especially in the field of registration, protection and presentation of collection items, and the preparation of the necessary standards, consultancy and education.
The Methodological Centre for Museology Education within the Moravian Museum is concerned with communication between museums and children and youth (including handicapped) and presenting collections to this important group of the museum audience. Furthermore, it deals with museology education, the educational function of museums, creativity, education in support of visiting museums and cooperation with schools.
The Centre for Presentation of Cultural Heritage within the National Museum is concerned with communication between museums and audiences, the presentation of collections, applying new technologies and collection presentation methods, virtual presentation of collections, the preparation of standards, consulting and education.
The Methodological Centre within the National Gallery in Prague is concerned with issues regarding specialised visual art museums (galleries).
